Reservations: 831-372-5325 * * * We'll be featuring the following wines: Josmeyer Pinot Blanc Alsace 2011 89 points - Robert Parker A generic Josmeyer 2011 Pinot Blanc being sold in the U.S. features subtle garlanding of flowers and mouthwateringly sweet-saline infusion of shrimp shell reduction to its juicy primary apple and orange fruit. It serves as a delicious reminder of this estate's venerable history of striking success with Auxerrois, which makes up 85% of the present cuvee. "Two days before optimum picking is way too early and two days after way too late," notes Ehrhart of the narrowing window for harvesting Auxerrois, which is usually brought in at Josmeyer 7-10 days ahead of true Pinot Blanc. He suggests that maximizing the sites and soils helps build a completely satisfying Pinot Blanc blend (a pattern long- established by Jean Meyer before ripeness and acid-retention began to so drastically diverge) and this one is certainly a case in point, playing well above its league and finishing with saliva- and next-sip-inducing length. Plan to enjoy this fine value through 2015. Domaine de Nalys Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2012. 89 points - Robert Parker Starting with the whites, and a blend of 52% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette and the rest Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Picpoul, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a fresh, lively and medium-bodied white that has clean minerality, citrus rind and hints of almonds on the nose. Showing excellent purity, with an easy-drinking feel, it should be consumed over the coming year or three. Drink now-2016. Domaine Fichet Mâcon Villages Terroir de Burgy 2012 Winemaker's notes: This Cuvee is composed by several Climats (grape varietals related to Burgundy localities) that have been blended after the wine- making. This cuvee is very representative of the white wines of Mâcon. Aromas of mature fruits, round, highly mineral and well balanced make of it a wine for appetizers,as well as for fish and cooked starters. Vincent & Sophie Morey Santenay Les Hâtes 2010 Winemaker's notes: Grape variety: Pinot Noir. Character: Good keeping potential (5-10 years). Great delicacy and fine, long finish in the mouth. Elevage: 100% in barrel (45% new wood). Rocca Delle Macie Chianti Classico Riserva di Fizzano 2005. 88 points - Wine Spectator A soft, medium- to full-bodied red, with plum and a pleasant chocolaty oak note that coats the tannins and provides a clean, minerally finish. A very ripe style. Chewy. Best after 2009. Château Ducasse Rouge 2010. 88 points - Wine Enthusiast Rich and structured, it is full of ripe berry fruits and dense tannins. It is solid and balanced, with concentration and a very ripe feel. It needs to age a few years, so drink from 2017. Sartori di Verona Amarone della Valpolicella 2010. 90 points - Wine Spectator An accessible Amarone, fresh and balanced, with well-meshed tannins and flavors of damson plum, mulberry, sous-bois and cocoa powder. Drink now through 2020. D66 Orin Swift Grenache Vin de Pays Languedoc-Roussillon 2012 Winemaker's notes: Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan. A deep, ruby complexion envelops the glass suggesting a mighty wine. It is perfumed with a tempting fusion of red and black fruits, mountain flowers, kirsch, herbes de Provence, and a wreath of new French oak. Silky and intensely rich, the palate is lead down a path of exotic flavors including blackberry, maraschino cherry, mocha, and raspberry puree.
